And what a wonderful long weekend vacation it was!
Hanging out with Toti, Luisa and Elizabeth in London was simply a fun joyful experience. This was much more about being with them – and seeing Ana, of course – than seeing London. Yet we saw – rather we walked – a lot of London! It truly gave us the opportunity to feel the vibe of most major London streets, many of which are all about the shopping experience. While we’re not much into shopping it is a wonderful way to get a sense of why people come as tourists to London. Of all major cities we’ve seen it is truly a unique shopping experience. From the famous Oxford Street to the Portobello Market and many others in between it is a busy vibrant fun place to be. The experience also demonstrated that the weather in London helps this street facing storefronts experience that goes on forever. The diversity is certainly there. From makeshift street vendors to the fanciest of fancy stores. Fascinating indeed.
Seeing Anna in her performance of Ava Gardner in Sinatra de Musical was most special. Indeed that is the reason we went to London in the first place. Then a couple of nights later, having dinner at her favorite restaurant, a tiny seven table restaurant where the owner is the one that receives you is so quintessential Europe.
It helped the enjoyment of the whole journey that we walked in beautiful weather to the Metro from our house and then once in London took the Metro – or rather the tube or Underground – to the hotel. And we returned the same way. Very cool indeed, very civilized:-)
All in all it was plain fun and we have pictures to prove it 🙂
One of the highlights and an experience that captured it all was us crossing the crosswalk of Abbey Road like the Beatles did in their famous album cover. It was simply hilarious and we will forever have that story to tell 🙂
